Instructions for the Roasted Garlic Express

The Roasted Garlic Express is an electric garlic roaster that can cook up to three average-sized garlic bulbs at one time. The manufacturer has designed the appliance's nonstick roasting chamber and push-button heating mechanism for ease of use. As a result, other than the time spent with preparation, you can roast garlic in the unit in under 30 minutes.

Instructions

  1. Preparation

    • 1

Open the top of your Roasted Garlic Express before plugging it in or using it. Remove the non-stick pan.

    • 2

Wash the pan and its handle with a slightly soapy lint-free microfiber cloth. Rinse it thoroughly with warm water. Wipe it dry with another cloth.

    • 3

Remove the terra cotta ring from inside the unit. Set it aside.

    • 4

Wipe the inside top and bottom with a lint-free, damp microfiber cloth. Dry with another cloth.

    • 5

Saturate the terra cotta ring with water and return it to the unit.

    • 6

Place a garlic bulb on your cutting board. Cut off approximately 1/4 to 1/2 inch of the top of the bulb with a knife to expose the cloves within the bulb. Repeat with two additional bulbs.

    • 7

Pour 2 tbsp. olive oil -- or vegetable or chicken broth, if you are calorie-conscious -- into the pan to act as a basting agent. Add any seasoning that you desire. Insert the garlic bulbs cut end first into the pan.

    • 8

Align the slotted part of the handle over the slotted side of the pan. Slide the handle down on the side of the pan until you hear or feel a click that indicates the handle is secured to the pan. Place the pan inside the unit and push up on the handle switch to unlock and remove the handle from the pan.

    Roasting

    • 9

Flip down the top of the unit to cover the pans and bulb. Plug in the unit.

    • 10

Push the "Start" button on the front of the unit. Wait about 27 minutes for your garlic bulbs to roast and the cycle end light to stop flashing. When the cycle ends, unplug the unit and wait another three minutes for the garlic to cool.

    • 11

Open the top. Re-attach the handle to the pan and remove the pan. Wait another five minutes.

    • 12

Add the roasted garlic bulbs or garlic flavored oil to your food dishes, or store it. If you want to store the garlic, cover it with plastic wrap or place it in a sealed container and store in the refrigerator up to 10 days or in the freezer for up to a year.

    • 13

Clean the pan and its handle with a slightly soapy cloth. Rinse the pieces thoroughly with warm water and wipe dry with a cloth. Store the unit.
