Plant lily bulbs about 8 inches deep in Florida. Place lilies in partial shade to protect them from the heat.
When preparing the garden to plant lily bulbs, dig a hole about 1 foot wide and 1 foot deep. This allows organic material to be added to the hole before the bulb is planted.
Add about 4 inches of compost or peat moss to the bottom of the hole. Place the bulb on top of the organic material and cover completely with soil.
