Instructions

    • 1

Place the chainsaw on a sturdy bench. Remove the two chain brake nuts on the right side of the saw by turning them counterclockwise with a ½-inch wrench until they are free of the chain brake mounting studs. Pull the chain brake directly away from the right side of the saw and over the mounting studs to remove it.

    • 2

Turn the blade adjustment pin screw counterclockwise with a flat-head screwdriver until it stops. The chain will be loose on the bar. Lift the chain off the end of the bar and then off the sprocket near the engine. Be careful to keep the bar in place while pulling the chain free of the saw.

    • 3

Arrange the new chain with the cutters facing forward and slip one end over the sprocket. Lift the other end over the tip of the bar. Make sure the chain is aligned in the grooves in the bar and on the sprocket by spinning it by hand.

    • 4

Turn the blade adjustment pin screw clockwise with a flat-head screwdriver until all slack in the chain is removed, then turn the screw counterclockwise one turn. The chain should now spin completely around the bar easily but without slack.

    • 5

Install the chain brake by sliding it over the chain brake mounting studs on the right side of the saw. Install the two chain brake nuts onto the studs and turn them clockwise with a ½-inch wrench until they are tight.
