How to Adjust the Landscape Rake on a John Deere Frontier

When you care for a large property, a landscape rake attachment for your garden tractor is an invaluable piece of machinery. Use the rake to efficiently establish and care for a lawn, move debris, do installation prep work and cover cable when you put in landscape lighting. If you have a John Deere tractor equipped with the type of hitch known as a Limited Category 1, the Frontier model, 20-L Series landscape rake is manufactured to easily attach and adjust using proprietary iMatch design. Each adjustment sets the rake at a different angle suitable for individual landscaping tasks.

Instructions

    • 1

Park the garden tractor and attached landscape rake on level ground. Turn the tractor engine off.

    • 2

Locate the metal lift pin located on the rake arm at the point where it connects with the rake beam. Grasp the lift pin in one hand and pull it upward. Simultaneously, hold the rectangular plate section of the rake beam in the other hand, lightly pulling and pushing to ease pulling the lift pin out completely.

    • 3

Push the rake beam with both hands, rotating it into the new desired position. Align the nearest lift-pin hole on the rake beam with the stationary hole on the rake arm.

    • 4

Slide the lift pin into the rake arm hole and on through the hole in the rake beam. Push the rake beam back and forth slightly to ensure the lift pin is secure before returning to tractor operation.
