Engine

• The model 032 uses a proprietary single-cylinder two-stroke engine. It has a displacement of 51 cubic centimeters, a stroke of 32 millimeters and a bore measuring 45 mm. The model 032's engine has a maximum speed of 13,000 RPM with its bar and chain attached. The ignition system for the engine uses a transistorized magneto with an ignition timing of 2.7 mm before the piston reaches the Top Dead Center, or TDC, position at 8000 RPM. The 032 uses a Bosch WSR 6 F spark plug with a gap of 0.5 mm.

Fuel and Oil

• The model 032 uses a carburetor with an all-position diaphragm and an integrated fuel pump. The gas tank of the 032 chain saw has a capacity of 1.18 pints, or 0.56 liters. The 032 uses regular unleaded gasoline mixed with two-stroke engine oil. According to the owner's manual, chain saws using Stihl-brand engine oil require an oil-to-gas ratio of 1-to-40 while other brands require a ratio of 1-to-25. The manual also recommends that operators only use bar oil recommended by Stihl or its associated dealers, although single-grade motor oil also will work in an emergency.

Bar and Chain

• The model 032 is compatible with a variety of bars and chains of varying sizes. The guide bars compatible with the 032 include the Duromatic and Rollomatic models. The 032 can use Duromatic bars that measure 16, 18 or 20 inches or Rollomatic models that measure 13, 15, 16 or 18 inches. This saw uses an oilomatic chain with a pitch of either 0.325 or 3/8 inches. It can accommodate micro, standard, rapid and super chains in addition to S-type chains. These chains are lubricated using an automatic oil pump with a manual rate control and a capacity of 0.6 pints. The chain sprocket of the 032 chain saw is a seven-tooth model designed for 0.325-inch pitch chains.
