How to Thread a Weed Eater Spool

Weed eaters are electric- or gas-powered garden tools that allow you to trim your lawn in places that you cannot use a lawn mower. Most weed eaters use nylon string as the cutting implement. You will need to replace the string in your weed eater, as it wears out through normal use. Threading new string on the spool of your weed eater is a fairly simple task that requires no tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug or disconnect the spark plug cable on the weed eater. This prevents the tool from turning on unexpectedly.

    • 2

Unscrew the cap on the weed eater head.

    • 3

      Remove the old spool.

    • 4

Place the new spool into the weed eater, placing the nylon cord through the holes on the weed eater head.

    • 5

Screw the cap back onto the weed eater.

    • 6

Turn on the weed eater and test the cord to make sure that it feeds properly. To test the weed eater, tap it on the ground, which will feed string through the weed eater head.
