1983 Case 446 Tractor Specs

Starting out in 1842, Jerome Increase Case inaugurated his farm implement company in Rochester, Wisconsin. He relocated to Racine soon after to begin producing threshers. Fifty years later, the JI Case Corporation rolled out its first tractors, continuing in production for nearly a century until the company was purchased by Ingersoll in 1982. The Case 446 lawn tractor survived the merger without significant changes until the early 1990s. Thus the 1983 model left all of the Case specifications unaltered.
  1. Engine

    • The 446 has a two-cylinder engine manufactured by Onan. Fueled by gasoline and cooled by air, it can reach 16 horsepower and run at 3,600 revolutions per minute. The cylindrical bore measures at 3.25 inches, while the piston stroke length is 2.62 inches. Total engine displacement is 43.7 cubic inches.

    Transmission

    • This tractor has a two-speed transaxle. The 1983 model includes a retard feature for the slower speed. However the speeds can be modified in the 1983 version with the addition of hold back valves to prevent downhill coasting.

    Implements

    • The 1983 446 has a three-point hitch, accommodating different attachments. These include rototillers, snow augers and power rakes.
