How to Troubleshoot the Weedeater XT600

The Weedeater XT600 is a brand-name gas lawn trimmer that features a primer bulb for easier start-up. Trimmers are used to complete your lawn mowing job around perimeters of objects such as trees, borders, buildings and concrete pads, where a mower won't reach. A trimmer can add a professional look to the edges along the sidewalk or driveway. When your Weedeater runs into minor problems, you can try to take care of them yourself before bringing the trimmer in for servicing.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill your tank with the proper fuel mix and check to see that the engine kill switch is set to "ON" if your trimmer will not start. Replace the spark plugs, clean and replace the air filter, and check for kinks in the fuel line if the other methods fail to work.

    • 2

Change your spark plugs and clean out the air filter if the engine won't accelerate when prompted or if it lacks sufficient power. Contact your dealer if you think the carburetor needs adjusting.

    • 3

Replace the spark plugs or add the correct fuel mixture as instructed in your manual if the trimmer overheats when you use it. Visit your dealer for help if the other methods don't fix the problem.

Adjust the choke on the trimmer, or empty the fuel tank and refill with the correct mixture, if it smokes during use.
