How to Use Bricks to Hold Plastic Sheeting in Place

Plastic sheeting can be useful as a temporary cover in more than one application. If you are in the process of scraping or chipping paint from your house, put sheeting on the ground or over your garden to prevent the paint chips from falling on them . You can also use sheeting to protect the ground when you are painting furniture or some outdoor project. The sheeting can prevent the paint from getting on the grass, or the parts of the project you are not painting. Getting the plastic to stay in place is difficult. Bricks will help.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the plastic sheeting and spread it over the area you wish to cover.

    • 2

Pile four bricks at one corner, forming a "V" shape. Do the same at the diagonally opposite corner as well.

    • 3

Repeat the process with the two remaining corners. Make sure you stretch the plastic sheeting tightly so it covers the ground to its fullest potential.

    • 4

Increase the number of bricks if wind is an issue. Weigh down the corners with more bricks and add bricks along the sides as well, if necessary.
