How to Troubleshoot the Homelite Trim N' Edge Trimmer

Homelite, founded in 1921, manufactures a variety of outdoor power tools. Homelite's product base includes power washers, chain saws, blowers, hedge trimmers and string trimmers. The Trim n' Edge string trimmer will help you keep your lawn neat and professional looking. You can troubleshoot minor problems yourself before taking it in to a dealer.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the spark plug from the trimmer, reattach the cap and place it on a metal surface. Pull the rope and watch for a spark. Repeat with a new plug if nothing happens.

    • 2

Squeeze the fuel primer bulb until it is full if the trimmer won't start. Alternately, take the spark plug out and twist the trimmer so the plug hole faces the ground. Slide the choke lever to "run" and pull on the cord 10 to 15 times to clean out any fuel from the engine.

    • 3

Warm up the engine for three minutes if the trimmer starts, but will not accelerate properly. Contact your dealer if it still won't go.

    • 4

Pull on the cutting string as you press down on the spool retainer if the string will not advance. Remove it from the spool and rewind the string.
