Adjust the carburetor if the engine doesn't run properly or idling is excessive. This is particularly important with chainsaws, because the carburetor idle controls the chain's rotation when idling. Run the engine and turn the screw labeled "T" until the chain starts to move. Then turn it anti-clockwise until the chain stops.
Make further carburetor adjustments if the Husqvarna small engine doesn't start properly or won't accelerate. Adjust the "L" screw for starting and poor acceleration. Adjust the "H" screw for poor available power. Make sure there's fuel in the tank if you continue to have problems.
Clean the air filter if problems persist with starting, engine power or excessive fuel consumption. Take the air filter cover off and brush the filter. Wash it in detergent if it's particularly dirty. Dry it before replacing it. Replace the filter with a new one if it shows signs of damage.
Change the spark plug if the engine continues to be low on power, is difficult to start or has poor idling performance. Pull the wire off and unscrew the plug with a socket set. Replace the plug with one of the same type.
