How to Make Pigeon Repellent

Pigeons are very common and abundant in many states. Sometimes these birds will look for and eat insects and seeds, and destroy any growing plants or flowers in your garden. Pigeon droppings can leave an ugly mess on your statues, ledges or cars. Large deposits of undisturbed pigeon droppings can ruin the paint on automobiles and buildings as well as kill vegetation. Pigeon droppings are also a source of fungal disease. If you live in an area where pigeons gather, you can make a safe, natural repellent using water and chili peppers.

Things You'll Need

• 24 to 36 chili peppers
• Food processor
• Mortar and pestle (optional)
• Glass container with lid
• Spray bottle

     Grind two to three dozen fresh chili peppers in a food processor or by hand using a mortar and pestle.

     Fill a large glass container or jar with 3 to 4 cups of clean water. Transfer the crushed peppers to the container. Cover the container with a clean lid or plate.

     Place the mixture near a window and let it bathe in the sunlight for about two days to ferment.

     Stir the chili pepper solution and pour into a large spray bottle. Transfer the rest of the solution to a new container and store it in the fridge for future use.

     Spray the pepper solution on plants and other areas where pigeons tend to gather.
