Solar Yard Products

Homeowners and businesses can use solar power as light sources, to save energy and save money on utility bills. The energy the sun produces can power traditional products normally powered by electricity, such as lights and fountains. Rather than using yard products that waste energy, you can opt for solar-powered yard products that are more energy efficient.
  1. Fountains

    • A solar-powered fountain can beautify a yard. Additionally, unlike an electric fountain, it does not have any unsightly wires. There are numerous styles of solar-powered fountains such as fountains with pedestals, and table fountains. Each fountain has solar panels to absorb the sun's energy and to power a battery that will run the fountain at night.

    Solar Landscape Lights

    • Solar-powered lights illuminate the yard or garden. Some home improvement stores stock a variety of landscape lights, from modern to classic to antique. In addition, some designs hang on hooks, stake in the soil or sit on top of fence posts.

    Solar Pathway Lights

    • Solar pathway lights illuminate walkways, sidewalks, patios and driveways. Many pathway lights come attached as a string or rope and can line the length of a path. In addition, pathway lights can stake in the ground or sit along a pathway.

    Decorations/Statues

    • Home improvement stores or landscaping stores also carry various statues or decorations to accent yards. The solar-powered decoration can accent a particular area in the yard or help provide light in dark areas. Some solar-powered decorations include lighthouses, animals, butterflies or houses.

    Sonic Molechaser

    • Get rid of pesky rodents that dig holes in your yard by using a solar-powered sonic noise stake or molechaser. Once the sonic noise is in the ground, it irritates rodents such as gophers and moles, eventually moving the rodents to a quieter location. The device sends sonic pulses through the ground every 30 seconds. It does not affect regular household pets. In addition, it uses the sun's energy and there is no need for batteries.

    Solar Address Numbers

    • Many addresses are difficult to see at night from the street. However, opting to use solar-powered address numbers makes viewing your address on your house easier. The solar-powered number absorbs the sun's energy during the day and the numbers turn on as soon as it starts to get dark. The numbers work well on a mailbox, fence, gate or front door.

    Solar Stepping Stones

    • You can create a pathway in your yard with solar-powered stepping stones. The stepping stones immediately light a pathway in the yard when it gets dark. They feature built-in solar panels that take in the sun's energy to charge the rechargeable batteries. You can find a variety of styles of stepping stones in shapes such as circular, square or hexagon.
