Toro 340 Sprinkler Instructions

The Toro 340 is a rotor sprinkler head which incorporates into standard PVC underground sprinkler systems. Each 340 sprinkler comes with an assortment of insertable arc disks to set the arc of the sprinkler's spray from 90 degrees up to 360 degrees. The three varieties in the 340 series provide gentle, effective watering for maximum soak rates and minimum run-off. The lawn sprinkler head pops up to four inches to clear high grass, the high pop head extends to 11 inches to clear shrubs and ground cover, and the shrub sprinkler head mounts on a riser pipe at any fixed height.

Instructions

  1. Installing Lawn Pop-up and High-Pop Heads

    • 1

Thread a 3/4-inch male elbow funny pipe fitting into the female threaded tee of the lateral sprinkler pipe at the location of the sprinkler head. Hand tighten, directing the outlet of the elbow toward the intended location of the sprinkler head.

    • 2

Press a two-foot section of funny pipe onto the outlet of the male elbow. Clamps are not required. Position the other end of the funny pipe up and out of the main pipe trench.

    • 3

Open the water valve briefly to flush dirt and debris out of the system.

    • 4

Thread a 3/4-inch male thread elbow into the body of the lawn pop-up or high-pop sprinkler head and hand tighten.

    • 5

Press fit the open end of the two-foot flexible funny pipe onto the outlet of the male elbow installed in the lawn pop-up or high-pop sprinkler body.

    • 6

Place the sprinkler head body at ground grade level and backfill soil into the trench around it to support it in position.

    Installing Shrub Sprinkler Head

    • 7

Install a 90-degree elbow on the end of a PVC or galvanized iron riser pipe cut to the desired length. Install the shrub sprinkler head onto the other end of the riser pipe.

    • 8

Thread a 3/4-inch male threaded elbow into the 90-degree elbow at the end of the riser pipe and hand tighten.

    • 9

Press fit the end of the flexible funny pipe onto the outlet of the male elbow at the end of the riser pipe.

    • 10

Stand the riser pipe with shrub sprinkler head up at the desired position and backfill soil into the trench to support it.

    Installing Arc Disk And Nozzle

    • 11

Remove the debris plug on top of the sprinkler head.

    • 12

Select a desired arc disk to control the arc of the sprinkler's spray. Place the arc disk in the top of the sprinkler assembly with the guide ring down and the inscribed arc pattern pointed toward the desired watering area.

    • 13

Place a nozzle into the sprinkler head over the arc disk and tighten until resistance is felt. Do not over-tighten.

    • 14

Turn on the water supply and observe the spray pattern. Adjust the pattern by slightly rotating the sprinkler body or by removing the nozzle and rotating the arc disk.
