How to Hook Up a Mower to a Tractor

Most tractors use the three-point hitch for connecting different implements, such as mowers. Mower implements come in handy when you have many different tasks to carry out with the same tractor. The implements can be connected for use and then disconnected to connect another implement for the next task. These mowing implements are called flail implements. They work by having many small knife-like pieces of metal that fall on the grass at high speeds, breaking it.

Instructions

    • 1

Move the drawbar forward or remove it completely, depending on how much clearance is necessary.

    • 2

Align the pin holes of the tractor's draft arms to the mower's lower hitch pins by backing it up to the mower.

    • 3

Use the hydraulic lift controls to raise or lower the draft arms to match the height of the mower's lower hitch pins.

    • 4

Turn off the tractor's engine and set the brakes.

    • 5

Walk to the back of the tractor and attach each draft arm to the mower implement using the hitch pins and security clips.

    • 6

Get back on the tractor, restart it and raise the tractor's draft arms to align them with the upper hitch points.

    • 7

Turn the tractor off again and set the brakes.

    • 8

Walk to the back of the tract and attach the tractor's upper hitch point to the mower's upper hitch point with the correct size pin and security clip.
