How to Clean Spray-painted Sandstone

Wash the sandstone surface by rinsing the painted area with clean water from a hose. This will remove any other dirt that may be on the surface and may make the paint easier to remove.

Scrape the paint with a wooden scraper to remove as much of it as possible. Let the surface dry.

Apply the paint stripper to the painted surface with a brush. Let the paint stripper sit until the paint has been removed.

Rinse the surface again once the paint is gone.

Apply a poultice on the paint if you are having trouble removing it with the paint stripper alone. Use a material that is absorbent, such as a baking soda, flour or cornstarch paste, and apply it to the spray painted surface. Once the poultice has removed the paint and has dried, it will fall off on its own. Brush away any excess material, then rinse the area with water.
