Fill the gas tank with the proper gas/oil mixture as specified in the owner's manual. Mix 40 parts gasoline to 1 part 2-cycle engine oil in a separate container before refueling.
Clean the chain bar and lubricate the chain. Remove all dirt and debris from the chain links before starting the machine.
Slide the "stop" switch down to the "on" position. Lift the choke lever to its highest position. Press the primer bulb next to the handle 10 times.
Place the chainsaw on a firm flat surface and hold it down tightly by placing your left hand on top of the handle. Pull the starter cord briskly two or three times to prime the engine.
Lower the choke lever to the middle position and open the throttle. Pull the starter cord briskly three or four times to start the engine.
Allow the motor to warm up while slowly counting to ten, and then move the choke to its lowest position. Squeeze the trigger a couple of times to bring the chainsaw up to maximum speed and to ensure that everything is working properly.
