How to Level Dirt With a Box Blade

Tractors provide a way for do-it-yourselfers to complete numerous tasks with the right attachments. One such attachment is the box blade. With it you can scrape dirt or gravel from high areas and move it to lower areas . Using the box blade to level dirt allows you to create a smooth driveway, change the slope of an area with poor drainage and create a level pad for a building or swimming pool.

Instructions

    • 1

Attach the box blade to your tractor or tow vehicle as directed by the manufacturer's instructions. Place the sleeve pin and stabilizer bolts securely in the hitch and 3-point lift brackets.

    • 2

Raise the sleeve hitch and brackets so the blade does not touch the ground. Back the tractor over the ground you are leveling.

    • 3

Lower the blade with the sleeve hitch to the desired height. Start by slowing pulling forward while the scraper teeth dig into the ground. Raise the box blade to dislodge the dirt acquired.

    • 4

Adjust the blade within an inch of the ground and back the box blade over the dirt after the teeth loosen it. The pushing motion levels the dirt.

    • 5

Repeat the process until the ground is level. Raise and lower the box blade until you reach the desired ground height.
