How to Start a Honda HRR Lawnmower With Blade Control

Honda HRR lawnmowers are part of the Harmony II lawnmower series, designed for residential lawn upkeep. The HRR model is a rotary walk-behind design. Some of Honda's HRR models feature "blade control," which lets you turn off the blades while the motor is still running. Whether or not your HRR model has the blade control feature does not affect how you start the mower -- it's a simple operation.

Instructions

    • 1

Move the mower to a flat location with short grass or without grass.

    • 2

Add gasoline to the tank if it is empty.

    • 3

Turn the fuel valve on the left side of the engine to the "ON" position.

    • 4

Move the throttle lever on the mower handle to the "CHOKE" position. This is only necessary if the engine is cold. Otherwise, set the throttle to "FAST."

    • 5

Grasp the flywheel brake handle on the mower handle -- this is a bar that extends across the mower handle. Hold it and the mower handle together with your left hand.

    • 6

Grasp the starter grip with your right hand. Pull it briskly backward and release it when the motor starts. Repeat this process if the mower doesn't start.
