How to Increase the Speed in a Deere XUV

John Deere Gator XUV utility vehicles are perfect for traveling off-road between parts of a rural property, moving small to medium loads and towing. The vehicles are four-wheel drive and have a top speed of around 30 mph. The actual speed you achieve depends on the weight the vehicle is carrying. A pedal in the driver's foot-well controls the speed of the XUV in conjunction with the travel control stick.

Instructions

    • 1

Start the engine and let it idle in neutral. You cannot adjust the travel control stick while the engine is revving or when the XUV is in motion.

    • 2

Move the travel control stick to the "Low" position when towing or moving heavy loads. Low is also used in uneven or damp conditions. Shift the travel control stick to "High" when driving without a load in the dry.

    • 3

Gently put pressure on the accelerator peddle on the right side of the driver's foot well. The XUV begins moving forward and picking up speed. The harder you push on the accelerator, the higher the speed.

    • 4

Push on the brake peddle, left of the accelerator, when you want to stop. Hold the peddle down to keep the vehicle stationary.
