How to Adjust a Pop-Up Oscillating Sprinkler Head

Pop-up oscillating sprinklers are convenient because they retract into the ground, which saves space and prevents damage to the sprinkler head. However, from time to time it may be necessary to adjust the spray direction of the sprinkler head. There is no need to call a landscaper because you can adjust the sprinkler head on your own, and it can be done in a matter of minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the main valve to your home sprinkler system, and turn the valve to shut it off. This valve will likely be located next to the outside water supply of your home.

    • 2

Pull the top of the pop-up sprinkler head manually until it won't rise any farther. Locate the black spray tip just under the top of the head.

    • 3

Turn the spray assembly counterclockwise to increase the angle of the spray pattern.

    • 4

Turn the tip counterclockwise to decrease the spray pattern. You can decrease the pattern to as little as 25 degrees.

    • 5

Press the top of the sprinkler head back into the ground. Turn on your sprinkler valve to test the adjustment, and repeat the steps as necessary until you are satisfied with the spray angle.
