Check the water level of your swimming pool. Raise the water to a height that is above the pool opening for the intake hose. This allows for optimal water circulation through the filter system.
Turn off the filter and open the swimming pool pump. Remove the basket and clean it out. Replace the cap and restart the filter (select models only).
Inspect the intake hose opening as well as the hoses. Look for leaks or cracks in the pool hose. This can become clogged with leaves and even small water toys. Blocking proper circulation to the filter can damage or limit the pump's ability to filter the water.
Clean the cartridge if the filter's pressure gauge reads eight to ten pounds per square inch (psi) above its normal reading (select models). Turn off your filter and turn the air pressure release valve counterclockwise to release the pressure inside the filter. Open the filter housing and remove the cartridge. For filters with no pressure gauge, Bestway suggests cleaning once per day.
Clean the cartridge with a garden hose and reinsert it into its housing. Replace the filter cover and tighten the air release valve. Restart the filter.
