How Do I Clean My Metal Pool That Is Full of Bugs?

Cleaning the pool is one of the first things that you should do every time you go swimming. Bugs and debris will blow into the pool overnight even if there is a cover over the water. Cleaning a metal pool that is full of bugs only takes a few minutes, no matter what size pool you own. Clean the bugs from your pool water with just a few basic pool maintenance tools.   • Pool pole tool
  • Skimmer basket

  1. Filled Pool

      Attach the pool pole to the skimmer net.

      Walk around the pool and remove bugs from the surface of the water with the skimmer. Pull the net from the water and shake it in the grass to get the bugs off the net.

      Check the skimmer basket, if your pool has one, and empty it.

      Attach the pool vacuum to the pool pole and pool pump according to the directions.

      Move the vacuum around the bottom of the pool to remove any bugs that have sunk to the bottom.

      Run the filter and pump regularly and add the necessary chemicals to keep the water clean and free of bacteria.

      Use the pool often. Bugs will not live where they will be disturbed regularly.

    Empty Pool

      Add about 2 inches of water to the bottom of the pool and mix with a small amount of dishwashing detergent.

      Attach the pool brush to the pool pole and clean the walls and bottom of the pool.

      Lower a sump pump into the pool and remove the water.

      Rinse the walls and floor while removing the water until there is no more soapy residue.
