Full Size Beds That Trundles Can Fit Under

Storing a trundle beneath a full size bed is a convenient way to store an extra bed out of plain sight to use when guests come over to your home. A trundle needs an adequate amount of space to fit underneath a bed frame. As a result, only certain types of bed structures can store a trundle.
  1. Trundles

    • Trundles are an ideal fit for people who live in apartments or rooms where space is at a premium. A trundle is an easy way to store an extra bed beneath a bed frame, allowing you to pull it out to use only when you need it. Trundles are traditionally available on twin and full size mattresses. Some trundles have the ability to rise to a standard bed height when pulled out, while some just slide out on rollers and reside stationary on the floor.

    Daybeds

    • Most daybed designs encompass twin size beds, but they are available in full size as well. A daybed has a frame on three sides of the mattress, enabling a user to utilize the bed as a sofa during the day and bed at night. The increased width of a full size bed at 54 inches compared to a twin size at 39 inches makes a full size bed less practical as a daytime sofa. Daybeds do not use box springs, which take up extra bed height, but instead use a link spring design as the foundation. This allows you to add a trundle beneath the daybed.

    Platform and Bunk Beds

    • Adding a trundle to a full size bunk bed creates sleeping space for three people at night while only taking up the length and width of a single bed during the day. Bunk beds come as full over full or twin over full. Like a daybeds, these do not utilize a low profile frame or box spring. This leaves enough space for a full size trundle. Platform beds are usually raised off the ground more than a traditional metal bed frame, so they could also fit a trundle.

    Design

    • Some trundles come on rollers with a simple metal frame, while others blend in more with the look and decor of the particular bed frame. A platform or daybed trundle can be built into the frame to appear as storage drawers. The trundle then slides out like a large drawer, exposing the bed. This hides the fact that you have a trundle and doesn't compromise the design and decor of both the bed frame and bedroom.
