How to Replace Fiber Optic Pool Lamp

Fiber optic pool lights are much brighter than traditional clear underwater lights. The LED lights in a fiber optic lamp are available in single colors or several colors. Color-changing lamps have several different colored LED lights throughout the color spectrum, lighting your pool in alternating intense bright colors. Replacing a fiber optic lamp follows the same steps as a traditional clear lamp.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the electrical breaker to the swimming pool.

    • 2

Insert a screwdriver into the top screw of the light fixture at the 12 o'clock position. Turn the screw counterclockwise to loosen it and pull it straight out. Place the screw on the side of the pool.

    • 3

Insert the screwdriver in the bottom tab of the light fixture and pry the lamp and fixture out of the pool wall.

    • 4

Remove the screws on the light fixture or open the clamp, depending on which type of fixture you have.

    • 5

Pry the lamp gently out of the front of the fixture with a screwdriver. Pull the old rubber gasket out of the fixture and dispose of it.

    • 6

Place a new gasket in the same area of the fixture and press it into the fixture lip.

    • 7

Insert the new lamp into the fixture. Set the lamp on the side of the pool and turn the breaker on for one to two seconds to verify that the lamp works. Turn the breaker off.

    • 8

Replace the light fixture screws or clamp to enclose the lamp in the fixture. Wrap the excess electrical cord around the base of the fixture and insert into the pool wall. Align the bottom tab on the fixture with the receiver on the wall niche. Press the fixture into the niche.

    • 9

Replace the top screw in the fixture and tighten it clockwise with a screwdriver.

    • 10

Turn the pool electrical breaker on.
