How to Test an Aquarite Turbo Cell

Swimming pools offer a much needed escape from the heat during the summer months. Many homeowners make the decision to purchase in-ground and above-ground pools. Swimming pools require maintenance in order to maintain water at healthy pH and calcium levels. An Aquarite turbo cell tests the pH and calcium levels and maintains these levels. Most pool owners need to clean their turbo cells a few times a year. An "inspect cell" light flashes when testing is needed or if the salt level is above 2,,500 parts per million.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the filter pump off. Loosen the unions on either side of the cell using a wrench or a pair of channellocks and remove the turbo cell. Place the bucket on a level surface and add 3 to 4 inches of water.

    • 2

Place the turbo cell in the water standing up on one end. Slowly add 1 to 1 1/2 inches of muriatic acid to the water. Let the cell sit in the solution anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes.

    • 3

Turn the cell over and submerse the opposite end in the mixture. The cord will also be in the solution but will not be damaged. Let the cell sit for another 5 to 10 minutes.

    • 4

Inspect both ends of the turbo cell. The calcium deposits should be removed. If traces of calcium remain, repeat the cleaning process. Rinse the cell clean with fresh water and place it back into position and tighten the unions until hand tight. Turn the filter pump back on.
