How to Make Pools Not Orange

Depending on the issue you're having with your swimming pool, there are a few different distinct colors that the water can turn. For example, if the metal components and piping for your pool have started to spread rust through the water, your pool will most likely turn orange. It can also turn orange from well water or even mud. Correcting this orange rusty color is not easy and requires that you drain your pool water. If you've never done this before, consult with a professional pool repair person.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the outside of your pool for any rusting fittings that might be connected to the filter or heating system. Remove and replace these fittings with new copper piping or plastic.

    • 2

Drain your pool water. To get rid of the rust color, you must remove all the water. Start by releasing the drain valve.

    • 3

Suck up the remaining orange water using a pool pump.

    • 4

Scrub any areas of your liner that have been contaminated with the orange water. Use a nylon scrubber and tile-and-liner cleaning product.

    • 5

Rinse the areas you scrub with a bucket of water. Pump out the water with the pool pump.

    • 6

Close the drain valve and refill your swimming pool. The orange-colored water should now be gone.
