How to Treat a Swimming Pool With Colloidal Silver

Your pool can gather thousands of bacteria every day. Pouring pool chemicals such as chlorine, sodium bicarbonate and sodium carbonate into the pool is standard procedure for keeping a healthy pool. However, these chemicals can cause menacing side effects such as nose burn and pink eye, which makes swimming less enjoyable. Remove these side effects with colloidal silver -- a material used for killing bacteria and viruses.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove all contaminates from the pool using a skimmer. Leaves, bugs and other items may affect the procedure.

    • 2

Gather a sample of your pool water into a small container and use chlorine test strips to check chlorine levels. Add free chlorine to the pool if levels tested below 1.5ppm to 3.5ppm, according to the instructions on the test strips.

    • 3

Add 1/2 tsp. of colloidal silver to 1 gallon of water. Your maximum concentration should reach no more than 20 ppb (parts per billion).

    • 4

Add 12 ppb of colloidal silver each week to maintain the 20 ppb in the pool.

    • 5

Keep the pool between 77 to 82 degrees F to keep the colloidal silver at its maximum potency.
