How to Reinstall Hayward DE6020 Filter Grids

Disassembly

  Turn off the system pump and cut power to the filter at the circuit breaker.

  Set the valves to prevent water from flowing into the filter.

  Turn the manual air relief valve to the open position.

• 4

  Remove the drain plug to release any water inside the filter.

• 5

  Use 3/4-inch wrenches to remove the nut and bolt securing the clamp around the middle of the filter.

  Spread the clamp ends with your hands and lift the clamp over the upper part of the filter body.

  Lift the upper portion of the filter body and set it aside.

Reinstalling the Filter

  Remove the filter tank seal. Clean the upper and lower body seal surface with a clean cloth.

  Apply Jack’s Formula 327 Multilube to the outlet elbow O-rings to lubricate them.

  Insert the filter element cluster into filter tank, lining it up with the filter element locator on the bottom of the lower filter body. Fit the top collector manifold outlet over the outlet elbow O-ring.

Reassembly

  Fit the metal seal on the lower filter body.

• 12

  Fit the upper filter body over the seal and lower filter body, making sure that the upper filter body is centered over the lower filter body. Apply even downward pressure to set the upper filter body in place.

  Position the filter clamp around the upper and lower filter bodies. Make sure the clamp ends meet adjacent to the safety and operation labels on the upper and lower filter bodies.

  Insert the clamp bolt through the clamp ends. Thread the clamp nut onto the clamp bolt and tighten, making sure the rounded end of the clamp nut points toward the head of the clamp bolt.

  Use a torque wrench fitted with a 3/4-inch socket to tighten the clamp nut to 150 foot-pounds.
