Adjusting a Hayward Heat Pump's Water Pressure Switch

A swimming pool can provide a vacation in your backyard. A pool heater extends your swimming season during the cool fall days by warming the water. A heat pump is an electrically powered heater that works similarly to a home air conditioner. It removes the heat from the outdoor air and transfers that energy to the pool water. Hayward pool heaters have water pressure switches that are designed to turn off the heater if the water pressure gets too low. This protects the exchanger from damage from overheating.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the heat pump's control panel. This is typically in the same location you adjust the temperature for the pool water.

    • 2

Open the control panel and locate the water pressure switch. This is a round device with an adjustment knob on top. Use the heat pump owner's manual to point you to its exact location.

    • 3

Turn the knob counterclockwise on top of the switch with your hand to decrease the pressure point.

    • 4

Turn the knob clockwise with your hand to increase the pressure point.
