Pentair Minimax Troubleshooting

The Pentair Minimax pool heater is designed to give you and your family a comfortable swimming environment, no matter what the temperature outside. The key to making your Pentair Minimax heater work properly is to install it according to the manufacturer's specifications. If you install the pool pump and later find that you have problems, it is a good idea to use a step-by-step approach for your troubleshooting.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the electrical outlet where the Pentair Minimax pump is plugged in. Verify that the outlet is operational.

    • 2

Press the power button on the Minimax pump to start it running. Power down the pump and restart it if it does not come on right away.

    • 3

Remove the filter from the Pentair Minimax pool heater and check it carefully. Replace the filter if it is dirty. Checking and replacing the filter should also be a part of your normal heater maintenance. In addition, you should check the condition of the filter anytime you notice a low water flow through the Minimax heater.

    • 4

Check the strainer in the pool pump and unclog it if necessary. A clogged strainer can reduce the efficiency of the Minimax heater or even cause it to stop functioning entirely. Check the strainer if you notice a reduction in the efficiency of the Minimax heater or a marked decrease in the water flow through the heater.

Shut down the gas supply running to the heater and contact an authorized service person if you notice scaling in the heat exchange or if the Minimax heater is still running after the pump has shut off. Contact a service person as soon as possible for either of these two conditions.
