How to Clean an Intex Pool's Vinyl

You'll want to clean your Intex aboveground pool's interior vinyl any time the vinyl surface appears dingy -- loses its luster -- or when you discover a stain or patch of dirt. Also, clean your vinyl liner before storing it or before making any repairs such as applying a patch to close a hole. Along with filtering and treating the water with proper chemical treatments, adequately cleaning your vinyl liner adequately is key to keeping your swim environment pristine. Cleaning an Intex pool's vinyl liner removes stains and buildup that generates over time from suntan lotion or general oil, dirt and grime from swimmers' bodies and from the environment. Algae can build up on the walls of a pool that's poorly maintained.

Instructions

    • 1

Spread the Intex pool's vinyl liner flat on the ground, if the pool is drained. Clean an Intex pool vinyl either underwater while the pool is filled or after draining the water.

    • 2

Fill a bucket with warm water and a few drops of a mild liquid detergent. Intex recommends using this solution for cleaning most pool parts, including the vinyl liner.

    • 3

Saturate a soft cloth with the solution. Wring the cloth out just enough so that it's not soaking wet, but it is still covered with water and soap.

    • 4

Wipe down the Intex vinyl with the cloth, starting at one end and working to the opposite end to ensure you clean the entire surface. Gently rub any stains until they disappear. If the pool is not drained, wipe the vinyl underwater until it looks clean.

    • 5

Rinse the Intex vinyl liner with clean water. If storing the vinyl, allow it to dry in the sun. The liner must completely dry before storing it.
