How to Cap Off Intex Metal Frame Pools

At the end of the swimming season, you can drain your Intex metal frame pool and store it or keep it up through the winter. Whether you're winterizing or storing the pool, you'll need to cap it off or plug the inlet and outlet holes. Intex pools have a fairly simple design, with holes only for the drain and filter pump. All the caps necessary to close off these holes are provided, to make the process quick.

     Insert the drain plug into the drain valve on the inside of the pool, and plug the drain cap into the outside wall of the pool.

     Turn off the filter pump, and unplug the cord.

     Loosen and remove the inlet and outlet hoses connecting the pool to the filter pump.

     Loosen and remove the nozzle and strainer unions from the wall.

   • 5

     Press the hat-like plugs into the inside wall where the nozzle and strainer grid were previously.
