Dimensions of Hot Tubs

Hot tubs come in a range of sizes and shapes depending on their intended use. A hot tub’s dimensions will affect not only the initial cost of the unit, but also the amount of space it occupies, the amount of water and energy it uses, and the kind of maintenance it requires. Consider the dimensions of a new hot tub before purchasing it.
  1. Square and Rectangular Hot Tubs

    • Most hot tubs are either square or rectangular. Square hot tub dimensions generally start at around 54 inches by 54 inches with a depth of roughly 24 inches, according to Dimensions Guide. Larger square hot tubs might be 60 inches by 60 inches and 30 inches deep. Both sizes will fit in most bathrooms. Standard rectangular hot tubs measure around 60 inches long, 32 to 42 inches wide and 20 to 22 inches deep. Larger models measure up to 72 inches long and 36 inches wide.

    Triangular Hot Tubs

    • Triangular hot tubs are less common but work well for corners. The average triangular hot tub measures between 60 and 66 inches long and wide and is around 20.75 inches deep, according to Dimensions Guide. Deeper models with the same length and width measurements might be up to 24 inches deep.

    Oval Hot Tubs

    • Oval hot tubs are slightly unusual but might be exactly what you are looking for. These usually measure 62 to 72 inches long, 38 to 43 inches wide, and 19 to 26 inches deep.

    Custom Tubs

    • If you can’t find a hot tub to suit your needs after check the Internet or perusing catalogs, consider having a custom hot tub built for you. Standard tubs usually fit about six people comfortably, but perhaps you’re looking for a super-size tub that will accommodate your entire extended family. Maybe you want an extra small tub that only fits two or three people. You might also want an extra deep hot tub or a hot tub with variable depth seating. Whatever your desire is, keep in mind that custom tubs are usually a lot more expensive because they are not ready-made by the manufacturer.
