Find the water pump and filter to your pool. Turn the pump off. Notice the line running from the pump. This is the pressure, or downstream, water line. You will need to drill into this line later.
Open the bottle of sealant and dip the brush into the bottle. Brush the threads of the connector ports on either side of the bottom of the pool sanitizer unit. This sealant should come included with your sanitizer unit (as well as the applicator brush); if it doesn't you can purchase some PVC sealant from a hardware store.
Screw the two male adapters included with the sanitizer into the connector ports. After screwing them in use a wrench to turn them one to two revolutions. This will secure the adapters.
Brush the sealant on the outside threads of the two adapters you have just screwed in.
Insert the two circular reducer bushings into the adapters and screw them in tightly. These are cylindrical PVC attachments with threading on one side and an opening on the other.
Brush PVC sealant onto the two included elbow-joint adapters and screw the adapters into the reducer bushings. Use a wrench to tighten.
Attach the ends of the two lengths of the included rubber tubing to the elbow joints. Clamp the area where they attach with the included metal clamps. Use your Phillips screwdriver to tighten the screws at the top of the clamps to secure them.
Drill two 5/8-inch holes along the water line. Drill these holes 12 inches apart.
Fit the included rubber gaskets into each hole.
Fit the remaining ends of the rubber tubing over the gaskets and place clamps over the area where they connect. Use your screwdriver to tighten the clamps.
Set the dial on the front of the sanitizer unit according to the chart in your instruction manual.
Start the water pump.
