How to Repair a Long Gash in an Intex Above Ground Metal Frame Pool

Intex is a company that produces special pool liners and pool accessories for its line of inflatable and metal frame above ground pools. These pool liners use an extremely durable, three-ply PVC vinyl material to ensure the liner withstands the elements. However, sometimes things happen to these liners no matter what material they are or how careful you are with them. After many months of water with chemicals and continuous exposure to sunlight, these liners can weaken allowing holes or gashes to appear. But they are easy to repair.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the area around the gash with a clean cloth to remove any skin oils or oils from suntan lotion.

    • 2

Cut two rounded patches that are 1 inch wider than the gash and about 2-inches long.

    • 3

Apply a generous amount of the included cement to one side of a patch and have your partner hold the outside of the liner together.

    • 4

Apply the patch with cement over the end of the gash and press into place firmly. Allow for at least 1/2 inch of the patch to cover the area around the gash. Apply cement to the other patch and apply to the outside of the liner in the same fashion. Allow the patches to dry for 30 minutes.

    • 5

Cut additional rounded patches as needed to cover the length of the gash on the inside and outside of the liner.

    • 6

Apply each pair of patches one at a time overlapping the last set of patches applied by at least 1/2 of an inch. Allow each set of patches to dry for 30 minutes before adding more patches and wait 12 hours before adding water to the pool.
