How to Troubleshoot Water Flow in a Gecko Hot Tub

Gecko hot tub water flow problems are similar to the problems most hot tubs can have. It is most often associated with the filter, an incorrect water level, faulty parts or incorrect usage. Troubleshooting is best accomplished by taking a look at all these components to make sure everything is in proper working order.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the pump compartment door. Tighten the unions on the side of the pump and the heater. Fully open the water valves.

    • 2

Twist off the filter cover. Lift out the filter. Rinse it until clean. Return it to the filter compartment and watch if the water flow improves. A clogged filter slows the water flow. If the filter doesn't come clean after rinsing, soak it overnight in a filter-cleaning solution. Replace the filter if it appears damaged or it is more than one year old.

    • 3

Turn the jets to fully open. Closed or only slightly open jets reduce the water flow. Inspect the jets when opening to make sure nothing is clogging.

    • 4

Fill the tub so the water level remains 5 to 8 centimeters above the skimmer and 3 centimeters above the highest jet. If the water falls below the skimmer or jets, air is introduced into the system. Not only does it affect the water from flowing properly, but it also may cause the system to overheat.

Check that the power cord is plugged into a dedicated 15-amp outlet. Do not use an extension cord to plug in the spa as it may not properly operate. Using an extension cord also voids the warranty.
