How to Build Hot Tub Enclosures From Kits

Hot tub enclosure kits come with most of the pieces already assembled. They are usually similar in structure and appearance to a gazebo. The panel pieces, posts, roof and skylight come in the kit, ready for connecting together. Some kits pieces snap together while others require the use of tools to drill screws through the pieces. With either type of model, assembly primarily requires positioning the pieces around the hot tub. When it's assembled the enclosure acts as a windbreak, keeping your hot tub warmer and your operating costs down.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the left and back wall upright on the hot tub platform. Position the section ends together.

    • 2

Snap the sections together. Or if connected with screws, place the deck screws into the pre-drilled holes on the sections. Tighten the screws.

    • 3

Position the right wall upright with the post against the back section post. Push the sections together or place the screws into the holes and tighten.

    • 4

Place the front wall upright against the right and left wall posts. Snap the sections together or place the screws into the holes and tighten.

    • 5

Place the timbers for the roof header on the ground in a square. Connect the timbers together. Some kits come with timbers you slide together until they snap in place. Other kits require you to place a bolt or screw into the wood pieces and tighten to secure it.

    • 6

Lift the roof header onto the top of the gazebo sections. It should rest or snap onto the top of the gazebo. For this step, you may need to use a ladder to reach the top and you may need the assistance of at least one other person to position the header on the gazebo.

    • 7

Attach the rafters to the skylight. Enclosure kits usually have eight to 10 rafters. The rafters may snap into the place, or you may have to screw or bolt them in.

    • 8

Lift up the rafter and skylight section to the roof level. Snap the rafters into place on the header or screw or bolt the rafters to the header.

    • 9

Position each roof panel in between the rafter pieces. Each panel should snap into place or connect with deck screws. Some models have caps that snap onto each rafter to secure the rafter to the roof panel.

    • 10

Place the skylight glass in the dome if it's not installed. It should snap securely into the dome.
