How to Heat a Pentair Pool

Invest in a pool heater. Pentair manufactures gas and electric pool heaters or you can buy a pool heater from a different pool supply store. A pool heater has a thermostat that you set to the desired temperature and the heater will heat the pool to that temperature and keep it there. Heaters will increase your monthly utility bills, but if you use your pool often, it might be the best choice.

Install solar heating panels. You install the solar heating panels on the roof of your home or along the side of your pool. The panels are connected to your pool’s pump and it passes the water through the panels, heats it and returns it to the pool. The panels can be pricey, but after purchase and installation, they carry little additional cost.

Use a pool cover. You can use a pool cover by itself or with a heater and solar panels. By itself, the pool cover might take a few sunny days to warm the pool up, but with a heater or solar panels, it will help to trap the heat in. Choose from a solar cover or a vinyl cover. Solar covers are a cheaper alternative because they are similar to bubble packing material, but they do not last as long as vinyl covers. Vinyl covers are available in different colors and you can purchase it as an insulated vinyl cover. You also have the option of buying the cover as a blanket that you will lay out manually, or you can purchase an electronic cover that has a motor to open and close the cover.
