Pool Vacuum Repair

Pull the vacuum’s hose out of the top of the vacuum to disconnect it.

Turn the vacuum so the bottom is facing up. Examine the rubber shoes on the vacuum. If they need replacement, insert a screwdriver under each shoe and pop the shoe off the vacuum. Dip the new shoes in water to make them easier to work with. Align the new shoes with the holes in the vacuum and snap them into position.

Pull the plugs that sit above the wings on each side of the pod to make it easier to remove the wings. Grasp the right wing and pull it off its hooks. Replace the right wing by sliding a new one marked with an “R” onto the hooks. Repeat for the left wing, using the replacement wing marked “L.” Put the plugs back into the vacuum. Tap them with a screwdriver or hammer to seat them firmly in the vacuum’s body.

Pry the front flap off with a screwdriver. Push the extended leg of the spring of the new front flap into the pivot hole until it engages with the locking mechanism. Fold the front flap toward the bottom of the cleaner until you feel it snap into place. Once seated, the spring should work freely.

Pry off the rear flap. Put the spring leg on the cam inside the rear flap adjuster. Push the flap toward the body of the vacuum until it snaps into place. It should move freely when positioned properly.

Adjust the dial on the rear flap adjuster, which is on the lower-left side of the pool vacuum, to its medium setting. As you operate the pool vacuum, you may need to adjust this to accommodate the new flaps and shoes on the vacuum.

Examine the pool vacuum’s hose. Replace any worn or cracked pieces.
