How to Install a Tub Cover Assembly

A hot tub cover assembly connects to a spa cover and lifts the cover on and off the tub, unlike covers that you must lift on and off by hand. The lifting assembly makes the chore less laborious. Hot tub cover assemblies consist of mounting brackets. A handle, also called a support arm, connects into the brackets. Each assembly may vary slightly in its installation, but because they work in a similar fashion the installation process shares several of the same steps.

Instructions

Position the mounting brackets with one each on opposite sides of the tub. The brackets should sit parallel to each other. You may place them on either pair of opposing sides. Position the brackets about 8 inches from the top of the spa shell and about 9 inches in from the edge of the shell. The installation position may vary slightly with each product.

Mark the screw holes with a pencil.

    • 3

Pre-drill the marked holes with a wood drill bit.

    • 4

Position the mounting brackets on the side of the spa, matching the screw holes on the bracket with the holes on the hot tub. Place the screws through the holes and tighten.

Push the support arms into the mounting brackets. The support arms may come in pieces, which connect into each other. The arms are used to lift the cover up and down.
