How to Replace an In-Ground Skimmer Weir Door

A weir door is a door over your in-ground pool’s skimmer. The door increases the velocity of the water flowing into the skimmer, which in turn allows your skimmer to remove more debris from the surface of your pool. If the weir door is broken or not functioning properly, replacing it with a new door is a quick fix since the weir door on skimmers snaps on and off when needed.

     Pull the old skimmer weir door from skimmer. The door is attached to the skimmer with a plastic hinge. The weir door snaps off of the hinge when pulled downward and away from the skimmer.

     Place the new weir door into the front cover of the skimmer. Fit the door’s plastic ends in line with the skimmer’s door hinge.

     Push the weir door up into the skimmer until the ends snap into the hinge.
