Unroll and straighten the length of the vacuum hose around the pool, paying attention that there are no kinks or bends in which debris can gather and clog the hose. Attach the vacuum’s head to the unit’s telescoping pole securely.
Attach the pool vacuum’s hose to the head, which will be submerged into the water and used to remove the pebbles and other debris.
Grasp the telescoping pole and submerge the vacuum head into the pool. Continue to push down on the pole until the head rests on the pool bottom.
Turn on the pool’s filter and place the hose’s other end against one of the water return fittings. This priming procedure fills the hose with water, removing any air bubbles that will result in loss of suction. After the hose is completely primed -- or when the vacuum head begins to move toward the water’s surface -- remove it from the water return fitting and attach the skimmer plate, which resembles a large plastic disc.
Attach the skimmer head to the skimmer basket. Grab the telescoping pole and move the vacuum head slowly over the pool’s bottom to remove the pebbles and any other unwanted debris. Once the chore is finished, turn off the pool’s filter before removing the skimmer plate. Remove the vacuum head and hose from the water and store them in a cool, dry place.
