Spread adhesive on and into the joint where the hoop meets itself and let it dry. This prevents any water from entering the hoop.
Lay a piece of plastic on the table or work area that is slightly larger than the hoop. Smooth it flat and wrinkle-free.
Spread adhesive completely around the top portion of the hoop. The amount of adhesive depends upon the type and how well it bonds. It may take several attempts to find the best amount of adhesive to use.
Lay the hoop flat onto the plastic, pressing down along the entire edge of the hoop to force the adhesive into the plastic.
Let the adhesive dry, then turn the hoop over so the plastic is on top. Cut away any excess plastic from the edges, and make two 4-inch slits into the plastic centered at the one-third and two-thirds points across the hoop. Continue to construct the solar heaters until you have used all the hoops.
Place the hoops with the plastic film side up in the pool, and allow the heat to build up underneath them from the sun.
