A patio net cover reduces debris from trees, provides filtered light and can reduce the heat in the patio area by increasing shade. In certain areas, if your patio project doesn't include walls and windows, you can create a patio net cover for your patio without a permit. Using the right material to make your net patio cover can provide protection from ultraviolet radiation and create a durable shade cover to make your patio more comfortable.

1
Measure the top of your patio structure, both width and length. Cut the net to size, adding 1 inch in each direction for hemming, if desired.
-
2
Turn each edge under and hem the netting by machine or by hand, if you choose to hem it. Place the netting over the structure and adjust it so that it's evenly lined up with the top of the patio.

Use a staple gun to attach the net cover by stapling it every 8 to 12 inches a half inch from the edge of the netting. Staple the corners of the netting 1 inch from the corner of the netting and 2 inches on each side of the corner.
