How to Lace Hay Belts

In farming, hay balers are used to take specific amounts of hay and compress them into small, tight blocks. To maintain the block's shape, hay belts are laced around the hay during the baling process. As long as you have a baler, you can easily lace your own hay belts -- securing each belt tightly around a block of hay.

Instructions

  Insert the amount of hay you wish to compress into your hay baler. This process will vary depending on the type of baler you own. Consult your hay baler manual for more information.

  Insert one hay belt into the your baler's front right hay belt slot. Insert the belt into the slot above the hay you have compressed, then run it out the other side of the baler. Run the belt back into the baler's back-right slot under the hay, then tie the two ends of your hay belt together.

  Repeat Step 2 with your second hay belt and the hay baler's left slot. There should now be two belts wrapped around your hay.

  Use the hay baler to compress the hay further, and tighten the belts around your hay as your do so. You should now have two belts laced tightly around your hay.
