How to Optimize the Layout of a 10x10 Plywood Floor for a Shed

A 10-by-10-foot shed provides you with 100 square feet of storage space, which isn't much if you have a lot of gardening tools, sports equipment and camping gear. Optimize your storage space by organizing your shed to take full advantage of the little space that you have. Keeping everything neat makes it easier to find and reduces the risk of your belongings getting damaged through neglect or improper storage.

Instructions

    • 1

Build floor-to-ceiling shelves on one side of the shed. The more things you can get up off the floor, the easier it will be to find them when you need them.

    • 2

Outfit the shed with a large door that opens outward. This will make much of the interior of the shed easily accessible and will enable you to move large objects in and out of the shed.

    • 3

Use stacking boxes such as old milk crates to store things. Separate things into categories and put one category into each crate. Stack the crates in a corner of the shed with a sign on them identifying what's inside.
