Instructions for a Patio Gazebo

Spending time on a patio with family and friends is a pastime enjoyed by many people, but those times can be spoiled by rain or the hot sun. Building a gazebo and placing it on your patio can provide shelter, allowing you to stay cool and dry while you're outside. Purchasing a gazebo kit for this purpose can speed up the construction process to just a few hours.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the floor pieces for the gazebo from the kit, and assemble them upside-down on the patio. The gazebo kit includes roof and floor sections that have been pre-assembled. Fasten the floor pieces together with the hardware provided with the kit, following the manufacturer's instructions.

    • 2

Flip the gazebo floor right-side-up with the help of an assistant, and move it to the location of the patio where you want to place it.

    • 3

Insert the support beams for the roof into the holes around the perimeter of the floor. Do not attach them with the hardware yet.

    • 4

Install the panels for the gazebo walls into place between the roof support beams, and screw them into place.

    • 5

Secure the support beams to the gazebo floor with the provided hardware.

    • 6

Place the roof trusses into position with your assistant's help. The trusses extend from the roof support beams and meet over the center of the gazebo. Bolt them to each other in the center and to the support beams around the perimeter.

    • 7

Raise the first pre-assembled roof panel into position with your assistant's help. Place the roof panel so that it spans the gap between two of the roof trusses, and attach it to the trusses with the screws or bolts provided with the kit. Install the other roof panels.

    • 8

Install screens in between the roof support beams, above the gazebo walls, if they were included with the kit.
