Change the batteries by removing the old ones and inserting 10 new, high-quality AA batteries into the battery holder. Standard usage of the feeder will require new batteries every six months, but more frequent or intense feedings might require battery changes more often.

Reset the time on the machine, as well as the frequency, run time and speed of the feedings, after inserting the new batteries. Follow the instructions on the screen and use the up and down arrows to program the desired settings.

Press the test button near the bottom of the feeder. Pressing this button will begin a countdown sequence, and when it hits zero, the feeder should throw food.
