How to Repair a Sun Room Window

A sun room adds light and warmth to a home, but the room can't be used as intended if one of its windows is broken. If the glass is broken or even clouded, replacing it, rather than repairing it, is necessary. The replacement window must be the same width and length as the original window. Because a sun room has a solid frame, replacing one of its windows requires removing the glass from the frame where it stands instead of removing the whole frame from the wall.

Things You'll Need

  • Screwdriver
  • Chisel (optional)
  • 4 window gaskets
  • New glass

Instructions

    • 1

Loosen the screws in the sun room frame around the window you want to replace. If necessary, remove the caulk around the windows with a chisel to get to the screws.

    • 2

Shift the glass in the sun room frame from side to side until it is loose enough to pull it free. Remove the glass from the frame, and set it aside.

    • 3

Pull the four old window gaskets out of the sides of the frame surrounding the window. Replace the old gaskets with four new window gaskets. Push the gaskets into the window frame until they fit snugly.

    • 4

Slip the new glass into the sun room frame. Tighten the screws around the frame surrounding the new glass.
